While Call of Duty: Warzone fans have only had a month to play on Caldera, the community’s consensus about the map seems to be largely negative. While some do enjoy it, many Call of Duty: Warzone players have called Caldera boring, and now a few players are suggesting ways to fix it.

Complaints about Caldera have not only come from players, but streamers as well. Some, like the pro player Aydan, have considered quitting the game due to the new play space. TimTheTatman has claimed that Caldera “feels dead,” while Dr Disrespect has pushed for Caldera to be removed. While it is unlikely that Raven Software will abandon the map, seeing as it was only just added as the replacement for Verdansk, it clearly needs some adjustments in order to please the Call of Duty: Warzone community.

There have been a number of complaints about Caldera, with many Call of Duty: Warzone players taking issue with how slow the map’s gameplay feels. Aside from there being too much foliage to hide in due to the map’s Pacific setting, matches feel slow due to a lack of points of interest. Most of Caldera’s unique and busy locations line the edges of the map, meaning that all the fighting happens on the outskirts. Once players approach the center of the map, areas begin to feel barren.

It is for this reason that Call of Duty: Warzone player and Redditor Dull-Caterpillar3153 has suggested some new additions for Caldera. They highlight four spots in the center of the map that could easily house points of interest, filling out the large gaps of space that surround the island’s Volcano. The post has received over 300 upvotes and hundreds of comments supporting the idea of more points of interest, with Primus_Dempsey commenting that the game could benefit from even more points of interest beyond the four spots the player has highlighted.

In the comments, a Redditor asked Dull-Caterpillar3153 to explain what areas they would add to the marked spots on Caldera, and the player had some interesting answers. Volcano Town would simulate the destruction that would happen if the Volcano erupted, boasting a design like Nuketown. Radio Station would be similar to Verdansk’s TV Station, while Temple would be a much larger version of the Ruins point of interest. A Training Facility rounds out the list of hypothetical areas, with the player saying it would have plenty of parkour elements.

With such creative locations listed and good spots chosen for them, it is hard to argue that Dull-Caterpillar3153’s idea would not make Caldera more memorable. Removing Verdansk was always risky, and with the community responding poorly to Caldera, Raven may want to add to the map sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
