Ukraine could push back or even “break” the Russian army if given enough capable weaponry from western allies, British government sources suggest.

The mood in British and Ukrainian military circles has become more positive, with government figures believing that the Russian army is “exhausted” and incapable of occupying territory in the longer term.

A shopping list compiled by Ukraine and submitted to Nato allies is believed to include aircraft, tanks, armoured vehicles, long range artillery, anti-ship missiles and air defence systems.
