Today’s ‘Heardle’ Answer And Clues For Thursday, May 12

Somehow, it’s already mid-May and the weather’s starting to turn where I am. High temperatures can mess with my thought process, but not so much that they’ll stop me from playing each day’s Heardle game. If you need a helping hand to figure out today’s song of the day, don’t worry. I’ve got some clues and the answer just ahead.

Newcomers to Heardle don’t need to know much about the game. There’s one song for everyone to guess and you have six attempts to get it it right. However, you’ll only hear the first second of the track at first. Guess wrong or skip, and you’ll hear a little more.

If you’ve missed out on the last few songs, here’s what they were:

Friday, May 6: “Music Sounds Better With You” by Stardust

Saturday, May 7: “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cindi Lauper

Monday, May 9: “Virtual Insanity” by Jamiroquai

Tuesday, May 10: “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult

Wednesday, May 11: “Maria Maria” by Santana (featuring the Product G&B)

If today’s Heardle song has you vexed, here are some clues:

  1. This is listed as a synth-pop/new wave song on Wikipedia.
  2. It was released in 1984.
  3. It (eventually) hit number one in the U.S. and number two in the U.K.
  4. The iconic video won six awards at the MTV Music Video Awards in 1986 and has been viewed more than 1.4 billion times on YouTube.

Any ideas? Getting close but don’t quite have it? Here’s the answer to today’s Heardle

Heardle Answer For May 12

Today’s Heardle answer is “Take On Me” by A-ha.

I feel like this might be a deceptively tricky one, because the first 16 seconds are mostly comprised of the drum beat and some ambient-ish sounds. The main instrumentation doesn’t kick in until after the Heardle time limit. Nevertheless, I got this one on the first attempt.

Speaking of that unforgettable music video, you can watch it below (and in 4K if you like):

Come on back to my blog tomorrow (hey, it’ll be Friday!) if you can’t quite figure out that day’s Heardle. As usual, I’ll have some clues and the answer for you.
