‘Suzume No Tojimari’ Is Makoto Shinkai’s Next Movie And It Will Be Released This November

Following the success of both Your Name and Weathering with You, Makoto Shinkai has another movie coming out this November and it looks amazing.

Called Suzume no Tojimari, which roughly translates to Suzume’s Door-Locking, it features 17-year-old Suzume’s journey, which begins in a quiet town in Kyushu.

When she encounters a young man who tells her, “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the middle of some ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe that had struck its surroundings.

Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the doorknob. Doors then begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must then close these portals to prevent further disaster.

The trailer (shown below) reveals yet another gorgeous looking movie. The music also sounds rather intriguing, though it’s not clear who the movie’s composer is yet.

What we do know is that Suzume no Tojimari will be released in Japanese theaters on November 11. While there’s no word of a Western release as yet, considering the popularity of Shinkai’s recent works it is pretty much a matter of when it will be released rather than if.
