Pune District Man Linked To Singer’s Murder Arrested | Pune News

Pune: Siddhesh Kamble alias Saurabh Mahakal, one of the two men from Pune whose names cropped up in the singer Sidhu Moose Wala murder case in Punjab, was arrested on Wednesday from a spot bordering Ahmednagar district, off Pune-Nashik highway, in connection with a murder in Manchar in August 2021.
Pune rural police later produced him before a city court, which ordered his custodial remand till June 20.
Police had invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the Manchar case in which the main suspect, Santosh Jadhav, is still at large. Jadhav and his aides had shot dead Omkar alias Ranya Bankhele in Manchar.
Asked if Mahakal was in any way involved in the Moose Wala murder case, superintendent of Pune rural police (SP) Abhinav Deshmukh said, “The Punjab police will clarify it. We have told both the Rajasthan and Punjab police, and other agencies about his arrest.”
A Punjab police team on Wednesday reached the Pune rural police headquarters to secure more details.
A senior officer said, “A team of Pune rural police had visited Punjab and Rajasthan in April looking for Jadhav.”
At least four cases have been registered against Jadhav with the Pune rural police.
