Arsenal have identified three alternative strikers to sign, if they can’t convince Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic to join them this month.

After finishing eighth in the Premier League last season, Mikel Arteta has now got his team challenging for the fourth Champions League spot in this campaign.

Now the manager wants to boost their chances of a top four finish by signing a striker in January, with Fiorentina’s Vlahovic top of their list.

The Serbian has so far rejected their advances, despite his club wanting to sell in the winter window, so Arsenal have had to find some alternatives.

According to CBS Soccer, they’ve got their eyes on Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak and Jonathan David of Lille.

Calvert-Lewin has missed a lot of the season for Everton so far, starting just four goals, and the Toffees form has certainly suffered because of it.

It’s unlikely that he would be cheap for the Gunners, but his Premier League pedigree would also certainly make him a good signing.

David has been impressing in Ligue 1, with the Lille forward bagging 12 goals in 19 appearances so far this season, despite the French champions struggling in 10th place.

However, despite the interest in the other three players, the Gunners are mainly focusing on Vlahovic, and Arteta revealed the club are ready to spend big this month.

“If it’s the right player, we can afford and we can do want we want to do, we will discuss it and come to the best possible decision. We are open,” Arteta said recently.

“…We are alert. (Technical director) Edu and his team are working very hard because we know exactly what we need to do.

“Whether we can accomplish that in January or the summer is a different question and related to lots of other stuff but we are there.”
