‘Berserk’ Manga Will Continue On Following Kentaro Miura’s Death

Following the death of Kentaro Miura back in May 2021, many assumed that would be the end of his manga magnum opus, Berserk. However, it seems that this is no longer the case.

In a long and very thoughtful explanation from people at Hakusensha, the manga’s publisher, it’s clear that the Berserk manga will continue on via Studio Gaga and Kouji Mori, the latter being a childhood friend of Miura.

Studio Gaga was a manga production studio founded by Miura and was done so that his assistants could be included in his works under an official collective name. This effectively means that the same people that helped Miura make Berserk, will be the same team continuing it.

In addition, Kouji Mori is the only person that Miura explained the whole of Berserk’s story to, including its ending.

Normally, I would be against finishing off a dead author’s work like this, but in this instance, it feels like the right thing to do. Not only because the manga will be continued by Miura’s assistants but also because Mori was close friends with Miura and knows how the story should end.

The last entry of the Berserk manga written by Miura will be released this November. After that, this new team will finish the Fantasia Arc/Elf Island Chapter and then start a new arc.

Here’s hoping this new team can deliver from where Miura tragically left off.
